Age Of Bots

A robot RTS built with Unity, C#, and Blender.
Start writing the project content herAge of Bots is a desktop real-time strategy game and my most ambitious development project to date. Started in 2017 as my first major programming project, it became a long-term exploration of game design, 3D art, and complex gameplay systems.e.

As my experience grew, I rebuilt the project twice, applying what I had learned to create cleaner, more efficient code. In late 2024, I completed the first playable build with an initial version of the enemy AI, bringing together the core systems that give the game its identity.

Set in a future after humanity’s disappearance, Age of Bots follows the robots that inherit our legacy—and our drive to conquer. Their expansion across the universe forms the backdrop to the game’s story, which I plan to reveal in full if the project reaches version 1.0.
Combat features three unit categories: ground units, drones, and aircraft, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Ground units favour durability over speed, while aircraft trade resilience for mobility.

Most weapons fire individual, simulated projectiles, making positioning and friendly fire important considerations. From long-range artillery to bombers dropping cluster munitions, attacks travel through the battlefield as independent objects. The arsenal includes lasers, flamethrowers, homing missiles, and ballistic weapons, with targeting capabilities that vary between ground, air, or both.

Units gain experience in combat, becoming stronger and more resilient over time. A technology tree supports upgrades to defence, attack, intelligence, and weapon development, while fog of war makes reconnaissance and surveillance essential to understanding the battlefield.

The initial enemy AI includes basic behaviours such as grouping units, coordinating attacks, retreating, and changing its attack strategy. The current build contains one completed map, roughly two-thirds of the planned units, and one playable faction. Its playful visual style incorporates visible damage, allowing a unit’s condition to be reflected in its appearance.

Development has been on hold since 2025 due to time constraints and the scale of the remaining work. Taking Age of Bots towards release would require additional support to expand development beyond a solo project.
